Many piping systems have anchors and guides, especially in the risers, to permit expansion joints, bends or pipe loops to function properly. The MPDA Series and RPG Anchors and Guides are designed to eliminate or guide pipe movement and must be rigidly attached to the structure. While this is inconsistent with the resiliency required for effective isolation, engineers should try to locate the pipe shafts, anchors and guides in non-critical areas - such as next to elevator shafts, stairwells and rest rooms - rather than adjoining noise sensitive areas.
Where concern about vibration transmission exists, VMC can engineer an isolated riser system using our extensive selection of spring isolators and hangers. In this type of isolation system, the springs are sized to accommodate the movements encountered in the riser as well as the branch takeoff to avoid overstressing the pipe.
