Bloomingdale, NJ – August 1, 2010 – VMC Group, a world leader in innovative shock, seismic, vibration and noise control products, announced today that they have expanded their California presence with the opening of a new office in Sacramento and the addition of Samantha Kersting as Senior Structural Engineer, IBC Team.

Ms. Kersting, who will be located in the Sacramento office, is licensed as both a California Civil and Structural Engineer with over 15 years experience. Her professional career has occurred entirely in California, between the San Francisco and Sacramento regions, and has involved structural engineering consulting experience, primarily focused on design of new buildings, retrofit of existing buildings, plan reviews, and nonstructural component anchorage.

Over the last 10 years working with Buehler & Buehler Structural Engineers, Inc., she has managed and completed design projects of varying complexity, market sectors, structural systems, and material types, including work on the Sacramento International Airport, the International Polytechnical School, and the Kaiser Hospital Expansion in Roseville, CA. In particular, Kersting has worked with OSHPD (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) as the project lead on several hospital remodels, and most recently designing the anchorages for over 200 pieces of equipment being installed at a new hospital.

“We are pleased to welcome Samantha to the VMC Group family,” stated John Wilson, Jr., chief executive officer, VMC Group. Wilson continued, “We are confident that Samantha will be a great addition to our team. Her experience with OSHPD and her IBC expertise will benefit our customers.”

An active member of her local and state Structural Engineering Associations, Samantha has served as a local board member, Treasurer, and President, as well as a board member at the state level. She continues to be the local Chair for the Public Relations/Outreach Committee. She has also recently been involved in writing exam questions for the national structural exam given by NCEES. Additionally, she has presented lectures and training sessions, as well as been a keynote speaker, for the AAUW Math-Science Conference.
